Iron Ore Dressing Stages
Iron ore dressing process involves multiple stages. The first stage is primary crushing which produces ore particles ranging in size from 6 to 10 inches. Secondary iron ore milling further reduces particle size and prepares the ore for beneficiation processes that require finely ground ore feed. The product resulting from this additional crushing is usually less than 1 inch (1/2 to 3/4 inches).
The next stage after crushing in the iron ore dressing process is grinding circuit. The main iron ore dressing equipment in this stage mainly includes ball mill, Raymond mill, high pressure mill, ultrafine mill, MTW trapezium mill etc. Between each grinding unit, operation hydro cyclones are used for classifying coarse and fine particles. Coarse particles are returned to the mill for further size reduction. The pulverized ore in the form of slurry is pumped to the next beneficiation step. If the ore being milled is destined for flotation activities, chemical reagents used during the process may be added to the slurry at this time.
